    We Love Lawns!

We love lawns at Best Buds Gardening Services and whether it’s straight lines and cool curvy cuts we enjoy doing them all. Here is a selection of some of the lawns we have trimmed over the past few months.  We cut lawns every day and love doing so – they give every outdoor space the perfect finish.

    Hollow Tine Aeration

3 weeks ago we hollow tine aerated this back lawn, followed by deep scarification to remove excessive thatch, moss and built up organic matter. This will allow better air flow through to the root and help it breath and help water to get through the thatch. Around 2 weeks after seed germination we were seeing great recovery rates and seed uptaking. After another light trim the result will be very impressive!

An important point before you start the cut is to search for nesting birds and other wildlife. When we finally managed to get up high and trim the tops these hedges completed a stunning garden in Knockholt.

    ‘Dead Hedge’ in Sevenoaks

In April 2022 we created a ‘Dead Hedge’ in Sevenoaks Dead hedges are piles of branches and twigs arranged to form a barrier which are increasingly used as a way to dispose of the material that arises from thinning or clearing operations in woodlands. Using surplus branches in this way is good for wildlife – especially for small mammals and birds – because it gives them somewhere to shelter that is protected from predators and from the wind and rain. It’s also good for insects: dead hedges in effect create a linear eco-pile. In this area there are wild deer that roam the countryside. Our hedge is able to keep…
